New Exhibition
2025/2026

A new museum experience

This museum is different. It is not a traditional, white-walled gallery. Here, the experience begins the moment you step through the gates. Through contemporary artworks that draw on the latest achievements in science and technology, you’ll see the world in a completely new way.

The museum is housed in the vast, 2,000-square-meter historic building of the former Downtown Market, where vendor stalls have been transformed into spaces for technology-driven, progressive art. At the center of the hall stands Europe’s largest projection environment — a zeppelin — inviting visitors inside to be surrounded by the museum’s most spectacular immersive projections.

Could it be that humans are not at the center of the world after all?

The museum’s new, fourth exhibition explores the theme of posthumanism through a series of striking artworks — many created specifically for the museum’s unique spaces. Can humans play god? Can rain fall upward? What would Earth look like without us?

ABOUT THE MUSEUM

The Light Art Museum Budapest is a place for art experiments with light. The Light Art Museum is one of the first exhibition spaces in the world to specialise specifically in the collection, research and display of works of this character. It presents the results of research into the interaction of art, science and technology, and the most diverse fields of research into the creative use of light, in order to create a complex and varied field of interpretation. The works on display in the museum explore the boundaries between imagination and reality, revealing to visitors the aesthetic utopias of the use of light and the most innovative artistic possibilities of the medium.
