AHMET SAID KAPLAN: Lumin, 2020
Interactive installation
Bioluminescent creatures emit their lights to attract, communicate and hunt other species. Light is their main element to connect them with their surroundings. There is a special kind of glow-worm living in New Zealand’s caves, called Arachnocampa Luminosa.
Lumin is a nature-inspired interactive installation sourced by the audience. It is a real-time simulation of glowing worms living in dark caves. By tracking the position of the visitors and transforming them into light and force fields in the virtual world, an invisible connection is created, allowing the audience to become part of the artwork. The audience can observe the life-like behaviour of these bioluminescent creatures and meet them through real-time interactions.
