Video installation
„There are no rules of the game. Light has the ability to offer readers leafing through a black book the sublime experience of a spatial aesthetic.”
The special projection consists of two computer-animated light structures projected onto two silk-screened black surfaces at right angles to each other, which are reflected from the two surfaces onto each other to create a multidimensional effect. The ‘n’ in the title of the work refers to this, suggesting the presence of any number of dimensions. The compositions, woven from light and in motion with varying rhythms, appear spontaneous and to constantly renew despite their precise definition. The minimalist abstract animation, projected onto a glossy surface, captures the illusion of spatial expanses invisible to the eye. The artists have attempted to lend form to scientific discoveries that describe the mechanics of the universe, based on an aesthetic vocabulary they suggest, such as the vision of curved space-time, gravitational ripples, and the as-yet unsuspected findings of quantum physics.
Éva Bortnyik (1945, Cluj) and Csaba Tubák (1943, Cluj), an artist couple living in Vienna, dealing with the consequences of the spatial extensibility of self-reflecting and self-reproducing kinetic art and the aesthetics of special projective surfaces.
